Interagency Meeting – August 2026

July 1 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

August 2026 Interagency Meeting – Highlights

August’s Interagency Meeting focused on suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and strengthening community partnerships to support Mesquite residents.

  • Suicide Prevention Initiative – Linda Rino and Mesquite Behavioral Health Center shared plans for a community-wide suicide prevention campaign, including the free safeTALK training on September 22 at the Mesquite Library. The initiative encourages open conversations about mental health, reduces the stigma surrounding suicide, and equips community members to recognize warning signs and connect people with help.
  • “Find Your Anchor” Program – Through a recent grant award, the committee is launching Anchor Boxes throughout the community. These resource boxes will be placed at locations such as the library, hospital, senior center, medical offices, churches, and local businesses, providing information, encouragement, and mental health resources for individuals experiencing difficult times.
  • Community Collaboration – Organizations discussed ways to expand the initiative through workplaces, volunteer groups, churches, and community organizations. Participants offered volunteers, employer outreach, and public education support to help distribute Anchor Boxes and promote suicide awareness throughout Mesquite.
  • MesquiteLife.com – Agencies were encouraged to continue using the Mesquite Life Resource Directory and Community Calendar to share events, programs, and community resources. The upcoming safeTALK training has already been added to the calendar, and organizations are invited to submit additional events and updates to help residents stay informed.
