Interagency Meeting – September 2026
September 2 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

September’s Interagency Meeting highlighted new funding opportunities, suicide prevention efforts, educational programs, and projects designed to strengthen the Mesquite community.
- Mesquite Regional Community Fund – George Gault shared an update on the Fund’s first grant cycle, which funded all nine applications received. Grants support projects that strengthen local nonprofits, improve parks and public spaces, expand educational opportunities, and invest in community infrastructure. The next application period opens September 15 and closes December 15. Organizations with promising community projects are encouraged to explore the opportunity.
- Find Your Anchor – Linda Rino provided an update on the suicide prevention initiative introduced at the August meeting. Anchor Boxes are now being placed throughout Mesquite and are available at no cost and with no questions asked. Local businesses and community organizations are invited to host the boxes and help spread the word about where residents can find them.
- Free CSN Community Courses – The College of Southern Nevada received funding to bring free skill-building courses to the Mesquite community. Planned topics include Introduction to AI, website building, e-bike and e-scooter safety, résumé writing, and other job-ready skills. CSN also plans to train local instructors so the courses can continue in the community.
- Grant Writing Assistance – A portion of funding awarded to the STEAM Center will support a professional grant writer. George shared that other local organizations interested in grant-writing assistance may also be able to connect with this resource.
- Art & History District – Work continues to make Mesquite’s Art & History District more welcoming and walkable. Planned improvements include an additional public sculpture, shade structures, benches, trash receptacles, and potentially improved signage and mapping to help residents and visitors explore the district.
- Mesquite Life – Agencies were reminded to review their Resource Directory listings and send updates, events, articles, and community information to Mesquite Life. The goal is to continue building a central, easy-to-use resource where residents can discover local services, programs, events, and opportunities.
